first father’s day

to my most wonderful husband:  happy father’s day.
happy first father’s day.  <3

ohhh, how excited i am to see my husband enter into fatherhood!

the lord has definitely been molding jesse’s heart into a father’s heart these past 38 weeks– a father who leads and provides.  it’s been cool to watch.  –not that he didn’t lead or provide for me (because he totally has), but it seems to have gotten to be more real or important to him now that this baby is on her way.  and maybe more stressful.  i don’t know.  well, yes, okay, more stressful.  i’ve seen the weight of the world on his shoulders as he’s looked over our finances and planned for our family.  i’ve seen him struggle and pray over “big” decisions that affect our family (like his job, my job, buying a new car, etc.)  i’ve watched him evaluate and look to other families/fathers as to how they lead, love, treat, discipline, and raise their children (everyone does it differently!), and we’ve had some really good, deep conversations about these things.  but yeah, the lord has given him a heart to know how serious it is to be a father, and i’m just so happy over that.  (:

i can’t wait to see how much more jesse will take on this fatherhood role after he meets this baby.  besides getting her out of me and seeing her myself, two of the things i’m most excited for are him meeting and holding his daughter (the initial bonding) and then watching their relationship grow.  there’s no doubt in my mind she will be a daddy’s girl (he’s so easy to love and he’s fun), and i’m very okay with that.  i couldn’t ask for anything more than a girl who loves, respects, and admires her dad.  i pray her dad is her standard when it comes time to start thinking about marriage.  (but whoa, my mind doesn’t like to go there quite yet.  i still have newborn onesies to put her in.)

anyway, i don’t know.  i’m just excited for jesse to be a daddy.  it’s going to be a cool thing for me to watch.  can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait.

oh.  i read this on facebook today, and now i’m stealing it.  thank you, elizabeth evans.

A father should love his children and seek to win their hearts.  He should protect them, discipline them, and teach them about God.  He should model how to walk with integrity and treat others with respect.  He should call out his children to become responsible men and women who live their lives for what matters in eternity.

Some men will hear this and mock it or ignore it.  But I tell you that as a father, you are accountable to God for the position of influence he has given you.  You can’t fall asleep at the wheel only to wake one day and realize that your job or your hobbies have no eternal value, but the souls of your children do.

First of all I have to say, the pictures made me laugh. Especially the first one. I don’t know if you meant for them to be funny or not, so I’m sorry if they’re not supposed to be funny. Second, I have no doubt that Jessie will be a great dad. I know that my kids love him and look forward to seeing him every chance they get. Third, *next* Father’s Day will be his first one!! 🙂 Fourth, hurry up and have that baby!!
